Celebrating 25 years of Loss with full-band anniversary performanceTo celebrate 25 years of the landmark album Loss, Mull Historical Society returns to Celtic Connections for a special one-off performance of the record in its entirety. Joined by a full band featuring Sorren Maclean, Hannah Fisher and special guests, Colin MacIntyre revisits the songs that introduced his distinctive blend of island storytelling, melody and imagination to audiences across the UK.
This exclusive anniversary concert honours a defining Scottish debut while also looking forward, with highlights drawn from MacIntyre’s ten-album catalogue, including recent release In My Mind There’s A Photograph. Expect an evening that is both reflective and celebratory, bringing together longtime fans and new listeners for a rare live performance from one of Scotland’s most distinctive songwriters.
From Colin -- “25 years, and 10 albums, on, and having just toured the UK with my ‘Evening with MHS’ music & books show, I appreciate more than ever how ’Loss’ seems to have found its way into people’s hearts & minds over the years. For that I'm truly grateful. Across the UK, ‘Society’ members of various generations shared their personal stories of loss, found and connection, which makes me feel proud of the work but also that it is theirs now. A teenage music mentor of mine, Big Scott Murray (and my first tailor, but that’s another story!) once sent me a note about the album: "... It’s a bit like silk with rust on it, Pet Sounds by way of Calgary Bay inside a cathedral on Mull’s Atlantic coast, you know, soft nice but with balls as well, a kid looking out to the world and getting to putting his music to tape for the first time” – that’s the review I cherish most. I can’t wait to give the album the full band occasion and Celtic Connections is the perfect stage, we’ll also be playing songs from across my career to date. Hope to see some of you along!’
