Mt. Pleasant High School is proudly hosting its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 10 at 9 AM. The ceremony will be held in the gymnasium and will go until 10 AM. This year we are very honored to have Air Force Major Douglas M. Smith as our veteran speaker. Major Smith is very excited to speak as he is an MPHS graduate of 1981. We are also very honored to have Major Smith help us conduct a Purple Heart presentation to World War II veteran Vernell Bergey, who was never given the Purple Heart award he deserved. Vernell’s widow, Adella Bergey, will be receiving the award on his behalf at the assembly. This will be a very special presentation. There will also be student speakers, the posting of colors by the Isabella County Honor Guard, and there will be patriotic music performed by the MPHS choir and wind ensemble and even musical performances by bagpipe players! We ask all veterans and community members to enter through the high school athletic entrance on the east side of the school. If you are a veteran, you are invited to join us for coffee and donuts from 8 AM until 8:45 AM. During the ceremony, you will have the best seats in the gym as you will sit on the basketball court in front of the podium. We ask our community members to sit in the bleachers.
