By Bernard Shaw, adapted by Dominic Cooke for the National Theatre**
Sharp, witty and surprisingly modern, *Mrs Warren’s Profession* explores the stormy relationship between the formidable Mrs Warren and her fiercely independent daughter, Vivie. As uncomfortable truths emerge, Shaw takes a swipe at morality, money, class and society’s double standards. Dominic Cooke’s lively adaptation brings warmth and pace to this once-scandalous play, whose questions about women, opportunity and hypocrisy remain strikingly relevant today.
