Moving Voices is Southampton’s longest-running open mic, held in the unique setting of a converted train station waiting room. It’s a brave space and a safer space - welcoming, intimate, and fiercely inclusive. Whether you're taking the mic for the first time or experimenting with something new, you'll find a small but mighty audience ready to cheer you on.We center LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent and marginalised voices, celebrate diversity, and create room for stories that don’t always get heard, even the messy and raw ones. Come as you are, share what you’ve got - poems, songs, stories, or something in between.

Special guest Bassie Gracie
We're delighted to welcome Bassie Gracie as part of her Poetry for Optimists tour, bringing her wonderfully irreverent blend of punk poetry, feel-good feminism and general silliness to our stage!
Bassie Gracie is a punk performance poet known for her musings as a musician, feel-good feminism and general silliness. Frequently found shoeless on the Monday of a music festival telling a 70-year-old geezer that ‘punk was better in my day’, her show combines jokes, anecdotes and rhyming couplets, intended to inspire, amuse and excite.
Hosted by Great Aunt Tranni
Great Aunt Tranni aka Nicola Beck is a word-wrangling, neurodiverse eco-Queer. She is a regular host at Moving Voices and appears at Pride events and festivals in the summer.
Booking is highly advised as the venue is small and the event is popular.
