Moving Toward RecoveryOctober 13th, 4:30 – 6pm, Contois Auditorium, City Hall
Doors open at 4pm
Homelessness and substance use disorder are having a real impact on our community — from the people struggling and suffering on our streets, to residents' sense of safety and comfort in shared public spaces, to the economic toll it takes on our local economy. It's a hard reality, and one Burlington is actively working to address.
Join us for a timely conversation about what's underway, what's working, and what's still needed as Burlington works toward healthier, more effective responses to substance use disorder and street homelessness. Hear from a panel of community leaders in healthcare, housing, and coordinated community supports on how they're innovating to help people move toward stabilization and recovery.
Introduction: Cam Lauf, Executive Director, Turning Point Center
Dialogue Facilitator: Becky Holt, Champlain College
Panel:
Dr. Matthew Siket, Chief Medical Officer, Coordinated Care Service/Street Medicine Program
Michael Monte, Chief Executive Officer, Champlain Housing Trust
Paul Dragon, Executive Director, Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity
After the panel, join table discussions to reflect on what you've heard and share your own thoughts and ideas — we'll bring highlights back to the full room before we close.
