About this Event
WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT MENOPAUSE, EDINBURGH!
If you’ve been told that menopause is simply about hot flushes, advised only to consider hormone treatment, or worse yet, told nothing at all — this event is for you.
Join Clinical Psychology Collective (CPC) and guest GPs from Evergreen Medical for a free, welcoming morning taking a genuinely holistic look at perimenopause and menopause.
Because menopause can affect far more than temperature. We’ll explore issues including sleep problems, anxiety, mood changes, memory and concentration difficulties, relationship strain, hot flushes, joint pain and changes in emotional wellbeing — and the ways physical and psychological health can interact.
Our programme brings together GP expertise, clinical psychology, yoga, movement and guided mindfulness, designed to support the whole person rather than focusing on one symptom or one treatment.

Agenda
Mindfulness for Menopause & Perimenopause
Host: Dr Katherine Nunn (Clinical Psychologist)
Info: In this workshop, Dr Katherine Nunn (Clinical Psychologist & Co-Director CPC) will lead a mindfulness session specifically designed for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause. The session will explore practical mindfulness skills to help you notice and respond differently to stress, difficult thoughts, emotions and physical sensations, with a particular focus on relaxation, anxiety and sleep. You’ll be introduced to simple techniques that can be incorporated into everyday life to support greater calm, self-awareness and wellbeing during this period of change.
Yoga for Menopause & Perimenopause
Info: At the event, our Dance Movement Psychotherapist and trained yoga teacher (Jenni Smout) will lead a gentle, menopause-informed yoga session designed to support relaxation, body awareness, mobility and mindful movement. The session will incorporate accessible stretches, breathwork and gentle movement, with particular attention to areas that can feel affected during perimenopause and menopause, including joint and muscle discomfort, tension and fatigue.
Rather than focusing on performance or flexibility, this session is about slowing down, reconnecting with your body and finding movement that feels supportive. No previous yoga experience is needed, and movements can be adapted to suit different bodies and abilities. NHS guidance also recognises yoga and other relaxing activities as useful ways to support wellbeing during menopause.
Psychology Insights
Host: Dr Michelle Kitson (Clinical Psychologist)
Info: In this short 15-minute conversation, CPC Co-Director and Clinical Psychologist Dr Katherine Nunn will explore where psychological support can fit within a holistic approach to perimenopause and menopause.
We’ll briefly discuss how psychology may support people experiencing challenges such as sleep difficulties, anxiety, changes in mood, emotional regulation, stress and the impact of menopause on relationships and everyday life. We’ll also explain the psychological services available through Clinical Psychology Collective, including evidence-based approaches such as CBT and ACT, and how these can complement other aspects of menopause care.
There will be time for a short Q&A, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and find out whether psychological support might be relevant for you.
The GP Perspective: Menopause & Perimenopause
Host: Dr Simon Smail (General Practitioner)
Info: We’re delighted to welcome GPs from Evergreen Medical as special guests and collaborators. Together, Evergreen Medical and Clinical Psychology Collective are developing a genuinely joined-up, holistic approach to menopause care, bringing medical and psychological support together.
The Evergreen GPs will share more about the medical and physiological aspects of perimenopause and menopause, including the assessment, treatment and support available through their menopause services and our developing joint pathways of care.
