Experience The Bengal Files, the 2025 Hindi historical drama written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, as part of CLIFF 2026, Classic Legends Indian Film Festival. The film is produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri.
The film follows a CBI officer investigating the disappearance of a journalist in Bengal, leading him into a story that connects a present-day investigation with the violence and upheaval surrounding the Partition era. The narrative draws on historical events in Bengal, including the violence of 1946, while using a fictional investigative framework to explore questions of history, memory, identity and the consequences of the past.
With a runtime of approximately 204 minutes, The Bengal Files brings together an ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumaar, Simrat Kaur and Saswata Chatterjee.
This special festival screening offers audiences the opportunity to experience the film on the big screen as part of a programme celebrating significant works of Indian cinema and the filmmakers who bring these stories to audiences.
