About this Event

Movement Meditation: The Dance of Breath

Join us in person for a movement as meditation with the dance of breath. Move, breathe, and be present with your body, soul and being.

Often times, we think of MEDITATION in association with the concepts of physical stillness and silence. Its connection to the idea of enlightenment also makes it seem unachievable or something Mystical. Likewise, MOVEMENT is also often thought of as purely limited to professional dancers. As a human, meditation, movement and stillness, all are available to each one of us, in our core nature, which can be accessed through different pathways. This workshop is to break these limited notion of dance, meditation and movement that we have been cultivating throughout the years, and really enter into the deeper realm of our bodies where these differences and the lines are blurred.

The goal of meditation is to come to state of meditative consciousness ‘samadhi’; to unify one’s body, mind and soul, in achievement of our being as one whole. Apart from sitting meditation, an alternative path to achieve such a state, is by transforming the body into the object of meditation and moving it consciously (and not freely, freedom arises by itself). In doing so, greater awareness of every molecule in your cells, skin, bones and muscles can be generated, and thus achieving an increased sensitivity to our own being. And one of the ways to achieve this balance is through gaining a better control over our own life force ‘prana’, which is, the Breath.

In this new series of Movement Meditation, we’ll be working on the subtle use of our bodies physical capabilities and the motion of the breath to investigate its manifestation into our physical embodiment in motion. The workshop is experiential and would be unique to each individual. It focuses on bridging the long lost connection with our breath and be aware of the untapped areas of the body and mind through the movement, Breath being the gateway to both. We will be reflecting upon our bodies and our fluid mental states, while researching about the effects caused by our bodily actions and reactions. Below are some technicalities in which you will be guided through in the workshop:

Day 1 : Manifestation of the Breath to Applied MovementAn explorative movement practice to ‘Just Be’ with the force of Breath and being present with its manifestation to the applied movement it generates in the body. We’ll also tap into the force of Desire, from which the movement arises, breaking our habitual pattern of moving & understanding the movement of life - the breath, deeply.

Day 2 : Conscious Breath Expansion with Exploring the Range of Motion of the MovementUsing the breath to guide our movement, and expanding the movement range to explore the new possible range of breathing capacity, we'll try to investigate how can the breath be used to activate certain areas of the body.PS. This program might challenge your past beliefs of moving. Please come with an openness to receive :)
