🏔️ Mount Solitary via Ruined Castle | Sat 10 OctBig day out in the Jamison Valley! We'll head down the Golden Stairs, along Federal Pass to Ruined Castle, then up and across Mount Solitary for some of the best views in the Blue Mountains.
📍 Meet: Cliff Drive near Narrow Neck Lookout, Katoomba (Golden Stairs trailhead)
🕘 Start: Lets meet at 7:45 for a 8:00 am start
⏱️ Duration: ~7–8 hours
💪 Difficulty: Hard: steep descents and climbs, rock scrambling up the Col, uneven track. Good fitness required.
🎒 Bring:
• 3L+ water (no reliable water on the route)
• Lunch and plenty of snacks
• Sturdy hiking boots
• Rain jacket and warm layer (80% chance it rains as of today)
• Sunscreen, hat
• Headtorch (just in case)
• Basic first aid
