About this Event
Join Darebin's Conservation team and entomologist Luis Mata for an exciting after-dark exploration of the moths and other nocturnal insects that call Darebin home.
Moth nights are a fun way to experience nature after dark. Using a special light sheet, we'll attract moths, revealing the hidden biodiversity that comes alive at night.
Together, we'll learn about moths' important role in the ecosystem while contributing valuable biodiversity records.
This event is part of the Great Southern BioBlitz, an annual citizen science event that encourages people across the Southern Hemisphere to record and share observations of local plants and animals using iNaturalist.
What to bring
- Torch or headlamp
- Sturdy closed-toe or bushwalking footwear
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- To get the most out of the BioBlitz, we encourage participants to download the iNaturalist App before the event so you can upload your observations on the night.
Family-friendly event
Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times, particularly around the light sheet setup.
Please note
Places are limited. If you're no longer able to attend, please cancel your registration so someone else can take your spot.
We look forward to discovering the hidden world of moths with you!
