Mosaic Learning Series: Technique Intensive – Cutting & Andamento
Master the Techniques That Define Mosaic Art
Ready to take your mosaic skills to the next level? This Technique Intensive explores two of the most important elements of authentic mosaic art: cutting tesserae and andamento—the intentional flow and placement of tiles that creates movement, rhythm, and visual impact.
- Duration: 3 Hours
- Price: $95/person
- Maximum 6 participants
- Ages: 16+
- Advance registration required
In this focused, hands-on class, you'll learn how to safely cut raw glass tiles into a variety of useful shapes using professional mosaic tools. You'll also discover how andamento and proper spacing (interstice) transform a simple arrangement of tiles into a beautifully crafted mosaic.
Rather than creating a decorative project, you'll build a technique reference board featuring cutting samples and andamento patterns that you can use as a guide for future mosaic work.
Whether you're just beginning your mosaic journey or looking to strengthen your foundation, this workshop will give you the confidence and skills to create more dynamic, professional-looking mosaics.
