This ride is part of the 'My ride. Our right' mass glow rides night of action. Together, we’ll light up the night and call for safer streets and better cycling infrastructure, especially for women riding after dark.
Our ride will start at Morpeth train station south side at 17:30 to meet any train travelling riders coming to join us. We will then begin our ride using a mixture of cycle paths and the road visiting Stobhill, Kirkhill, Lancaster Park estates and Morpeth town centre. It will finish at the Sun Inn Morpeth which is a short distance from the train station.
We will then have a break at Morpeth market place around 19:00 for a group photo call for those who would like to be in the photo. Promotions are a very important part of this event, please make yourself known if you do not want to be in photos …perhaps you can be a photographer for us?
Morpeth is expected to be busy at this time of day but our bikes and ourselves we will be well illuminated for maximum visibility. Morpeth is a hilly town, unfortunately we can't avoid them however we will be riding at a very steady pace, stopping frequently and looking out for everyone!
This is a social ride whereby we will be cycling as a group and all riders are responsible for themselves adhering to the Highway Code, respecting motorists at all times.
The route of the ride is prearranged led by @Cycle With Jan and will take in Morpeth housing estates as well as Morpeth main streets.
Whilst this ride is promoting Cycling Uk’s ‘My Ride Our Right’ campaign which addresses the inequality of women’s cycling and safety men are welcome to be part of the ride.
Do join us, bring your friends ….we had great fun last year!
