Welcome to Social Photography
Member-run, friendship-focused
Photography can sometimes feel isolating. Social Photography meet-ups give you a regular opportunity to connect with other photographers, share ideas and build friendships.
UKSP provides the date, time and location. Members make the meet-up happen together—there is no designated host or organised programme.
How to find each other
When you arrive, look for a camera on a table or a small sign saying “Social Photography”. If you’re the first there, put out your own camera or sign so others can find you.
Start a conversation, welcome anyone arriving on their own, and help everyone feel included. If you fancy taking photos afterwards, suggest a photowalk and organise it together. The community shapes what happens next.
The monthly meet-up is FREE. No paid membership is required to attend.

What shall we do on our walk ?
When you decide to begin your walk if you haven't already decided on some locations then as you walk around always have your camera ready and at a high enough shutter speed.
Why ?
A high shutter speed will always ensure you capture a crisp image, this is a wedding technique but plays perfectly into the narrative of 'run and gun' photography , something may catch your eye and you may react quickly to capture this event happening , there is nothing worse then being manual and on 1/50th or lower and the image comes out blurred.
Manual ?
Oh yes !! Talk amongst the group to see if anyone is shooting in manual if you are not , don't be afraid , manual is the best way to get the most out of your photographic journey so take this opportunity to practice and learn how.
I only have a mobile phone though
Also great , mobile photography is growing rapidly , if you have a camera on that phone you are a photographer so don't be ashamed if others have fancy digital cameras and interchangeable lenses , you may want to go down that route one day , but for now you are learning what makes a good photo and the camera on your mobile will do its best to help you with your vision.
