I. Welcome & Grounding (10 Minutes)
Opening the space and quick check-in: How is everyone holding up as the November cold sets in?
Grounding in our mission: Keeping our focus tight, sustainable, and accountable to our neighbors on the East Side.
II. Legal & Financial Infrastructure (10 Minutes)
UB Law Clinic Update: Finalizing NYS CT-247 and ST-119.2 tax exemptions and CHAR410 registration with Jessica Murphy and Matthew Pelkey.
Financial Systems & Bookkeeping Support: Update on the $2,500 Western New York Foundation Small Grant review with Program Officer Lauren VanOsten to set up professional nonprofit fund accounting and compliance systems for Cynthetta and the board.
III. Grant Pipeline & Resource Report (15 Minutes)
Newly Submitted Applications: The Pollination Project ($500 Daily Seed Grant) and A.J. Muste Foundation (November Rapid Response).
Pending Decisions: Sparkplug Foundation ($10,000 full application—decisions out December 7), John R. Oishei Foundation, Crossroads Power Up Fund, and Mary's Pence.
Erie County Office of Health Equity: Recap from Eddie and Milo on the October 29 grants management webinar and free county technical assistance resources.
IV. East Side Winter Tenant Defense & Coalition Strategy (15 Minutes)
Albany Training Download: Updates and insights from Karra Barrett following the regional Tenant Union Federation training in Albany.
Urgent Action Fund ($8,000 Rolling Rapid Response): Collective discussion led by Karra, Cynthetta, Marlesa, and Milo on whether we have an immediate, grounded need for an Opportunity or Security grant right now, and how we pace our winter tenant defense work to match our real volunteer bandwidth.
V. Joys, Struggles & Action Items (10 Minutes)
Open floor for community check-ins, wins, and mutual aid updates.
Confirming action items and next steps for November.
