Let’s make some mad films together! The first ever 48-hour experimental film competition, organized by Film School Masaryk and supported by MUNI Faculty of Arts.
This competition celebrates unconventional filmmaking methods, encouraging the participants to express their creative voices courageously, without worrying about any expectation or standard. Thus, the competition is about the practice of experimental, personal, instant, maybe everyday life filmmaking.
For the very first iteration of Monolith 48, participants will make films from 3 categories: Landscape and Ecology; Democracy and Youth’s Voice; and Everyday Life and Instant Filmmaking. The project welcomes filmmakers (and non-filmmaker) from anywhere and any age, to come to Brno and turn this student city into a big film site in 3 days.
Save the dates:
📌 Main competition: November 6–8, 2026
📌 Kickstart workshops: October 24, October 25 & November 2
