Monday Swing Dance Social & Jazz Jam

WHAT HAPPENS EVERY MONDAY @ DUBLIN STUDIO:

7-8pm Beginner Solo Jazz Class. Admission €10 per person.

8-9pm Beginner Swing Dance Class. Admission €10 per person.

9-10pm Social Dance & Jazz Jam. Free Entry.

****If you have never swing danced before we highly recommend that you try one or both of the beginner classes ****

All are welcome to all our classes and events. No experience and no partner required. We have the best swing DJs to keep your dancing shoes happy all the way from 9-10pm. The social dance features a special jazz jam which starts around 9:15pm. In the jazz jam you will be shown some new steps by Kozue and Melanie and how to use them to play with the music, express your individuality and have fun with your fellow dancers.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Water bottle. It can get warm if you're dancing a lot.

• Comfortable footwear.

• A warm jumper. It can get chilly in the studio between dances in the Winter time.

WHAT HAPPENS AT SOCIALS:

• Ask anyone and everyone to dance. All experience levels very welcome. It's exciting to get to dance with different people each night. If someone is tired or chatting with a long lost friend they might say "no thanks" but most of the time if you ask the answer will be an enthusiastic "yes please".

• Classic routines. There are a number of dance routines such as the Shim-Sham, Tranky Do, Big Apple, Stew that were choreographed by some of the original dancers. Many people who are dancing for a while know these fun routines. Feel free to join in if you know the moves or just have fun trying to copy what the person next to you is doing.

• Jams and dance battles. These are a key part of the origins and culture of swing dancing and swing music. It's a way for community members to share moves, rhythms, inspiration, energy and to show support for one another. So if you see a circle forming on the dance floor get closer and join in.

• Failte Swing @ Dublin Studio EVERY MONDAY with open level drop in solo jazz class 7-8pm, beginner drop in swing dance class 8-9pm, fun and friendly social dance & jazz jam 9-10pm. For more details and tickets click here.
