About this Event
On KKFI, Brad Gregory goes by "the Jazz Canadian." He's from Edmonton, Alberta, and on Monday afternoons he hosts the station's Jazz Afternoon, drawing on what he calls "my fifty plus years of being an avid jazz listener and professional musician."
He studied at the University of North Texas, where he played in the One O'Clock Lab Band, and he's an alumnus of the Houston Jazz Orchestra. He worked in New York City as a professional jazz musician for several years, and he moved to Kansas City in 2002.
Since the move he's played with the Boulevard Big Band, the Jim Lower Orchestra, and the Molly Hammer Quintet, and he plays tenor saxophone in the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. He leads his own groups, too: KC Reeds and Rhythm and the Brad Gregory Sextet.
He's the saxophonist on Molly Hammer's 2017 debut album, Out of This World, which pianist Joe Cartwright produced and arranged, with Steve Rigazzi on bass and Todd Strait on drums.
