SUMMARY
The Monday Night Art Course: Spring Edition is a 6 week intensive run by Artist Rachelle Dusting designed to provide students with a comprehensive exploration of various artistic techniques and concepts. Through a combination of hands-on activities, guest artist sessions and a final supper & guided reflection, students will develop and build on fundamental skills in drawing and painting while gaining insights into professional art practices.
DURATION
6 weeks every Monday 6.30pm - 8.30pm commencing Monday October 14 and concluding Monday November 18.
LOCATION
Each lesson will be located at Goolugatup Heathcote, 58 Duncraig Rd Applecross, in the centre of Murray House Building. This building is the first located to the right of the driveway in the precinct. Free parking is available in the lower grounds area as you enter the precinct. A map is provided on confirmation of ticket.
GUEST ARTIST SESSIONS
There will be three lessons dedicated to guest Artist sessions. This is so students have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wider scope of professional art practices and techniques. The guest artist to feature over the 6 weeks are Sarah Pearn and Desiree Crossing.
SARAH PEARN
Sarah is a realist painter based in Perth, Western Australia. Graduating from the Florence Academy of Art in Italy in 2013, Sarah relocated back to Perth where she set up her practice, specialising in the production of highly traditional oil paintings and drawings.
Sarah works on a variety of projects, including private portrait commissions and still life artworks, through to traditional religious works for the Church. Keenly passionate about the traditional and historic methods that lie behind the many different forms of fine art, Sarah is constantly expanding her knowledge and skill set.
DESIREE CROSSING
Desiree Crossing (b.1981) is an Australian-born painter, working internationally. Specialising in portraiture. Desiree’s sumptuous oil paintings speak to classical painting traditions, whilst embodying an unmistakably contemporary spirit. Crossing studied Fine Arts at ECU, Central TAFE, and Set and Costume Design at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She has undertaken two artist residencies in Italy.
Crossing has been a finalist in many prestigious art awards including the ARC Salon, Portia Geach Memorial Award, The Archibald Salon des Refuses and was the recipient of the Baldock Family People’s Choice Award at the 2021 Lester Prize for Portraiture.
TUITION & PAYMENT:
Tuition fees are inclusive of model hire, guest Artist fee, paints and some drawing materials. Students are encouraged to build their own drawing and painting kits over the course and bring to each class.
Lessons that are missed cannot be repeated, but class notes with relevant content may be sent to those who are unable to make sessions due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. This is a non-refundable course as lessons are pre- planned and vendors booked in advanced. Tuition payment is tax deductible. Payment plans are available upon request to [email protected].
Please be advised that confirmation of the course commencing is dependent on a minimum number of enrolments (8 people). If a late cancellation occurs, ticket holders will be refunded their ticket purchase.

• Kneadable Eraser
• Blue Biro
• Paint Palette
• Variety of brushes
• Various canvas panel, board or canvas for painting exercises (Week 9 & 10) • Gamsol or Odourless solvent
• Liquin or oil medium of choice
GENERAL MATERIALS

• 30cm Ruler
