This program explores the many ways music can transform, reflect, and reveal. Beethoven takes a melody from Mozart’s The Magic Flute and reshapes it through seven variations, bringing out different characters within the same theme. Schumann’s Adagio and Allegro moves between warmth and brilliance, while Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel finds quiet beauty in simplicity and repetition. Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata brings the program to an emotional climax, weaving together lyrical melodies, recurring themes, and dramatic gestures. Across these works, familiar melodies and ideas are revisited and seen from new perspectives.
