About this Event
Mining machinery operates under demanding and variable loads, presenting significant challenges for equipment reliability, fault diagnosis and maintenance.
Professor Jarek Rosinski will explore the dynamics and condition monitoring of mining machinery, taking a practical engineering approach to the investigation of machinery behaviour and the detection of faults. The lecture will bring together machine dynamics, instrumentation and analysis, considering their application to the challenges encountered in operating machinery and the benefits for reliability and condition-based maintenance.
The lecture will conclude with an overview of developments in instrumentation, connectivity and Industrial IoT at Transmission Dynamics, examining how these are extending the possibilities for monitoring machinery in service.
Professor Jarek Rosinski is widely recognised as one of the pioneers shaping the future of intelligent engineering systems, with a career dedicated to redefining how industry understands, monitors, and manages critical machinery.
With an MSc in Vibroacoustics and a PhD in Machine Dynamics, Jarek began his career in academia, first in Kraków and later at Newcastle University’s National Gear Technology Centre. There, he combined rigorous research with deep industrial engagement, building an international reputation for solving complex, high-stakes challenges in machine dynamics and power transmission.
He founded Transmission Dynamics in 1996, applying his research and industrial experience to the challenges of monitoring machinery under real operating conditions. The company develops sensor technologies, electronics and intelligent analytics that help engineers understand equipment behaviour, diagnose faults and improve reliability across industries including mining, rail and energy.
Beyond business, Jarek has played a significant role in advancing engineering knowledge and practice. He has delivered specialist industrial training for the British Gear Association for over three decades and was recently appointed Professor in Practice at Durham University, reflecting his commitment to bridging academia and industry.
