About this Event
The Bob Moog Foundation is excited to announce “,” a special five-day exhibit exploring the groundbreaking design, enduring musical influence, and distinctive histories of the iconic Minimoog synthesizer. On view November 12–16, 2026, at the Moogseum in downtown Asheville, the collection will span more than five decades of the instrument’s history, from early R.A. Moog and muSonics instruments to contemporary Model D editions.
Alongside the evolution of this pioneering analog synthesizer, the exhibit will explore the individual stories of instruments connected to influential musicians, composers, and innovators.
Featured instruments:
- Herb Deutsch’s early R.A. Moog Minimoog
- muSonics Minimoog formerly owned by acclaimed producer Charles Stepney
- Tom Coppola’s modified duophonic Minimoog
- Instruments associated with Gil Trythall, Billy Joel, and Bill Plummer
The exhibit will coincide with the Asheville Symphony’s presentation of the U.S. premiere of Gabriel Prokofiev’s on November 14. Together, the exhibit and performances offer an opportunity to explore the Minimoog’s remarkable legacy and hear its expressive electronic voice take center stage in a new orchestral work.
Tickets purchased on moogseum.org also grant entry to the event.
