About this Event

Migrant Voices in Horror Book Launch + Screening! | OUR FATHER, THE DEVIL

Come and celebrate the launch of Bloodletter Magazine’s second chapbook, Migrant Voices in Horror. The one-night-only launch event will feature a special screening of Ellie Foumbi’s feature film Our Father, The Devil (2021), preceded by Natalie Murao's short film Tears Burn to Ash (2025). Chapbooks will be available for sale, along with specialty launch event cocktails at The Broadwater Plunge Bar!

More about Migrant Voices in Horror: "A poetry anthology investigating the hauntology of otherness and reclaiming what it means to belong, Migrant Voices in Horror is the second print publication of Bloodletter Magazine. Showcasing the contemporary work of thirteen first- and second-generation migrant poets and artists identifying as women, trans, and/or nonbinary, this collection illuminates the inherited, institutionalized, and embodied legacies of migration through the lens of horror."

More about Our Father, The Devil (2021): "An African refugee's quiet existence in a sleepy mountain town in the south of France is upended by the arrival of a charismatic Catholic priest, whom she recognizes as the warlord who slaughtered her family."

More about Tears Burn to Ash (2025): "An encounter with a doppelganger in Japan cracks open the edges of reality, as a return to the homeland becomes a search through memory, absence, and the ghosts of identity."

All profits from chapbook sales will be donated to our partners at Immigration Equality, the national leader in LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigration rights.
Bloodletter is a biannual feminist horror magazine publishing personal and analytical perspectives on the horrific by women, trans, and non-binary writers. Offering an exploratory space for writers to share their lived experiences of horror and the theoretical implications of the genre, Bloodletter is at core a community bonded by the alchemic capacity of storytelling to transform horror into liberation.
