This two-in-one class will explore and review gardening tools for every day gardeners, including our Farm Manager’s own recommendations. You’ll also learn all about how to get started composting at home! Composting is a great way to recycle your food scraps and yard trim to save money by producing your own high-quality soil amendment.
Saturday, July 25: Perennial Plants
Perennial plant growing is a great way to ensure a beautiful blooms year after year! Mosa will guide you through the different types of perennials, choosing the right perennials for your space, and utilizing native perennials for a more sustainable bloom.
For this class, Mosa will be joined by guest speaker, Lynn Kuhn, a Landscape Architect and Lead Designer for Wright Outdoor Solutions. She will share a “designer’s trick” she has used for years for mixing native perennials with ornamentals to maximize beauty and interest in the garden. Using Echinacea (Coneflower) and Liatris (Gayfeather) as examples, she will share specific plants and cultivars to get the best results for beauty and pollinators.
Saturday, September 19: Seed Saving
This class will guide you through harvesting, preparing, and saving your seeds to ensure a thriving and sustainable garden for years to come! Gardeners will have the opportunity to collect seeds from Middlebrook’s town garden to take home (primarily flower seeds and whatever else is available).
