About this Event
Silent Centenarians is a series curated to celebrate 3 classic silent films turning 100 with brand new live improvised piano scores. The line up starts the day after Halloween (November 1st) with Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, a movie widely considered to be the first sci fi film as well as one of the most influential films of all time. Released in 2027, but set in 2026 the movie explores humanity wrestling with highly intelligent robots, wealth disparity, and fear of the future. Thank goodness the real 2026 isn't a dystopian capitalist landscape dealing with those problems.... right? Don't miss Devereux Geiger's new score of this masterpiece of cinema.
Silent Centenarians series dates:
Nov 1st Fritz Lang's Metropolis (the first sci fi film)
Nov 15th Lotte Reininger's Prince Achmed (the first animated feature)
Dec 13th Buster Keaton's The General (one of his last independly controlled silents)
