This food bank, founded in 1981, serves 26 counties and nine cities in its region. In addition to operating a backpack meal program for students on weekends and holidays breaks, the agency also organizes a Kids’ Farmers Market that provides free produce and nutrition education to children in need.
According to No Kid Hungry, nearly 14 million American children live in food insecure households where access to proper nutrition and sufficient meals is limited or unavailable. In parts of Mast Store’s four-state region, one in four children don’t know where they’ll receive their next meal.
