Where Does Your Trash Go? A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Our WasteYou toss it in the bin, the truck takes it away—and then what? Where does all that trash actually go? And what happens to the things we put in the recycling and compost bins?
Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of the places our waste goes after it leaves our homes. Lisa Liesener, Recycling & Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Middletown, will take us inside a landfill, a recycling facility, a food-scrap composting facility, and a trash-to-energy plant. Through photos and stories, she’ll show us what happens to our waste, how these facilities work, and why New England is facing a growing trash crisis.
We’ll also talk about what we can do differently, from reducing and reusing to recycling and composting.
