Join the American Graffiti Museum and graffiti documentarian, Eric ""DEAL" Felisbret's for a cinematic teaser of his upcoming film, Mecca: The New York City Graffiti Chronicle, followed by a lecture and slide presentation. Drawing from his personal archive, he will share photographs and stories spanning 40+ years, documenting the history of the New York City graffiti movement. Followed by Q & A.
Mecca: The New York City Graffiti Chronicle, a feature length documentary centers on New York as an unparalleled incubator for culture. The film features influential figures such as Cey Adams, Lee Quiñones, John "CRASH" Matos and Henry Chalfant and others.
Eric “DEAL” Felisbret is an author, cultural documentarian, and curator. He has documented the evolution and history of New York City graffiti for more than four decades and is recognized as a leading authority on the subject. His book Graffiti New York (Abrams, 2009) is a comprehensive look at graffiti across four decades.Felisbret has curated numerous graffiti history exhibitions including Al Diaz’s City of Kings: A History of New York City Graffiti at HOWL! Arts in 2022. His photography has been published in The Washington Post, The New York Times, VICE magazine, The Source magazine, numerous books on graffiti, and in the Netflix documentary series The Andy Warhol Diaries. His writing on graffiti has appeared in The New York Times, Stress magazine, Elemental magazine, and The Michigan Citizen.
