About this Event
M**der AT MOSQUITO COVE: The M**der of Elfreda Pike, 1870
Based on the book by acclaimed author Patrick J. Collins (DRC Publishing), this new stage adaptation brings a chilling Newfoundland true story to life.
On January 6th, 1870, the body of 16-year-old Elfreda Pike was found on Featherbed Road — her brutal death sending waves of grief and suspicion through the small communities of Mosquito Cove and Harbour Grace. As the investigation unfolds, accusations fly: Was it Thomas Pike, Elfreda’s beau? Her brother-in-law Ray Thomey, caught in a forbidden embrace? Or the mysterious man in the long black coat seen walking with her before her death?
It will take fifty years before the truth is finally uncovered. M**der at Mosquito Cove is a dark, gripping mystery — a reflection on guilt, justice, and the ghosts of the past that linger when stories go untold.
Directed by Liam Eric Dawson, written by Patrick J. Collins, and produced by Maria Luísa Raymundo and the team at Walnut Productions, this project merges historical truth, theatrical innovation, and the passion of emerging Canadian artists.
