This Community Conversations event is especially for Ozarks Tech students and is being held on the college's annual Constitution Day event in partnership with the campus Politically Active student organization.
Developed in partnership with Springfield’s 25 registered neighborhoods and the Neighborhood Advisory Council, Mayor’s Community Conversations aim to strengthen collaboration, improve communication and ensure residents help shape City priorities.
“Springfield is strongest when we listen to one another and work together to address the issues that matter most to our community. Mayor’s Community Conversations bring City leadership directly into neighborhoods so we can hear from residents, learn about their experiences, and better understand each community’s priorities,” Mayor Schrag said.
The mayor added that he hopes the conversations will create space for residents to share ideas, raise concerns and help shape the future of our city. Just as importantly, they will help City staff and leadership provide clear follow‑up, connect residents with the right departments and address concerns in a thoughtful and timely way.
“By meeting in neighborhoods and listening to our community, we strengthen transparency, accountability, and trust in local government. I encourage residents to participate, share their perspectives, and help us continue building a stronger Springfield together.”
What Residents Can Expect
During each conversation, attendees will be able to share concerns, ask questions and talk directly with City staff and leadership. To support transparency and accountability, City staff will:
• document issues raised during each session.
• assign follow‑up tasks to the appropriate City departments
• track progress with clear timelines
• publish a public recap outlining key themes, follow-up actions under way and any items needing additional coordination.
