Sept. 29, 2026, at Co-op Mercer Hall in the Ovintiv Events Centre will see a co-operative discussion on municipal issues with Dawson Creek mayoral hopefuls in a debate setting and environment.
This Week in Dawson Creek presents a mayor candidate panel discussion/ debate on September 29, 2026, in Co-op Mercer Hall at the Ovintiv Events Centre.
As of this announcement - no candidates have officially declared for the election - we're declaring candidate forum dates after candidates will have filed their names for office," says This Week in Dawson Creek publisher and event emcee Rob Brown.
Doors at 6:30 pm, with mayoral candidates taking the stage at approximately 7:00 pm.
"All subsequently announcing Dawson Creek mayoral candidates are invited to attend and take part, and of course, the public. We live here."
The evening will be hosted by This Week in Dawson Creek and moderated by the newspaper’s owner and publisher, Rob Brown, who has hosted both DC candidate and mayoral debates in 2018 and 2022, as well as throughout the South Peace and western Canada in his 28-year career in journalism.
“Each of these evenings has always resulted in a great night of open discussion, and this one should be even more enlightening, as we get to know our candidates a bit better, as well as learn about their thoughts on a range of municipal issues," he says. "We will, of course, attempt our live feed, as we did in 2018 and 2022, for those who cannot attend in person."
“If the live feed doesn’t happen for technical reasons, we will certainly have a video recording of the evening later in the night for those who missed attending in person.”
The public can enter Co-op Mercer Hall through the lower lobby doors of the Ovintiv Events Centre, which are located adjacent to the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre entrance.
