As we move into the 2026 municipal election cycle, housing remains one of the most-critical areas of concern amongst residents. From housing developments and home affordability, to property tax rates, to supports for public housing and supporting the precariously housed and unhoused populations in our city, Stratford residents want to know what future mayor potentials plan to do to maintain and improve the city for all.In light of these concerns, the Huron Perth Community Legal Clinic, in partnership with the United Way of Perth-Huron and the Social Research and Planning Council are proud to present The Mayoral All-Candidates Debate on Housing.
This event will serve to provide a chance for residents to hear mayoral candidates answer questions focused on housing, from emergency shelter and subsidized housing all the way to home-ownership affordability and property tax rates.
Join us on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 6:30 pm at the Army Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada Hall at 151 Lorne Ave E in Stratford Ontario. Doors open at 6:00 pm.
No RSVP required. Seating is first-come, first-serve.
This facility is accessible and is located on the 7 Industrial Bus Route.
Debate format will be a panel style, with questions posed to the candidates. Unfortunately, we are not able to facilitate questions from the floor at this event. We do encourage attendees to seek out candidates after the event to continue discussions.
For questions please contact us by email at [email protected].
We look forward to you joining us!
