Maximizing portfolios: a Briefing on Opportunities for Existing Buildings

On Monday, September 21, stakeholders will gather at Related Companies’ extraordinary, LEED Gold Hudson Yards offices to share several announcements and developments that are enabling investment and progress in reducing energy and emissions impacts of existing buildings, solutions that are critical to addressing climate change. With audience discussion throughout the event, participants can expect both to learn and to have opportunities to share.

This session will launch USGBC's new Corporate Practice Toolkit for High-Performance Buildings, featuring on-line guides to corporate policies and procurement, aiming to help companies of all sizes operationalize practices to improve performance across their buildings and spaces. In addition, USGBC will release a new publication, The Decarbonization Blueprint, a data-rich report focused on existing building frameworks. A fireside chat will share insights on the increasing uptake of CPACE financing to reposition assets. The session will feature new recommendations from the work being led by the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) on alternative pathways to enable more flexibility in building performance standards, and the role of strategic decarbonization plans. The event will close with an invitation for deep retrofit projects to enter the World Championship of Energy Savings “U.S. Team” and be recognized at the UN Climate Change conference in November.
