Max König - Saxophones
Shai Martin - Keys
Andy Doo - Drums
Drawing inspiration from the giants of Jazz and the great canon of Arabic, Persian, Jewish, Turkish and Balkan music, saxophonist Max König and his first-class band forge a sound ignited by searing melodies, sparkling rhythms and fiery improvisation.
Birthed from a proud Jewish lineage and schooled in jazz music, Max developed a deep admiration and respect for Middle Eastern and Balkan musical cultures over the course of his career. This appreciation was nurtured through his work across Melbourne as an in-demand multicultural wedding saxophonist, and through joyous intercultural exchanges with brilliant traditional musicians from across Middle Eastern and Balkan countries.
Known for packed dance floors and electric live sets, König commands a magnetic stage presence, driven by the Jewish value of "ruach" (spirit, breath, and life). To witness Max König and his ensemble is to experience a truly unique sound, sight, and spirit.
