Grammy Award-winning drummer Matt Chamberlain and pianist and musical iconoclast Brian Haas come together for a rare night of musical collaboration on Sunday, October 4th at Gasa Gasa. Haas, whose wide-ranging work includes Nolatet, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Compersion Quartet, Compulsion Trio, Mike Dillon Band, Punkadelick and Tephra Sound, joins Chamberlain, whose extensive recording and touring career includes work with David Bowie, Fiona Apple, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Bill Frisell, Brad Mehldau, Tori Amos and Frank Ocean. The two first recorded together on Frames, an 11-part instrumental suite composed by Haas that draws from stride piano, early minimalism and modern electronic music. Their second collaboration, Prometheus Risen, turned that process inside out, born from three days of live improvisation combining keyboards, Moog bass, ambient textures, loops and Chamberlain's expansive approach to groove and percussion. The collaboration continues at Gasa Gasa.
