All are welcome for a matinee concert (Oct. 18 at 2pm) with Matt Black (matthewblackmusic.com). Matthew Black is an indie-folk singer-songwriter known for incisive lyrics and singable melodies. The literal son of a preacher man, Matthew left his job as a mild-mannered IT manager in 2022 to make music full-time. He writes simple, melodic tunes that can transport you and make you believe there might be meaning and kindness in a chaotic world. The lyrics of the song “Everything Is Terrible and No One is Okay” (which lends its name to his current tour) speak to the authentic and soulful hope with which Matt writes and performs:
“I don’t know how we’re gonna do it / Love is real / And we can prove it /You are not alone / There’s too much, and we can’t bear it / Does it get lighter if we share it? / You are not alone / If the world is going to end / Treat a stranger as a friend / Face the danger holding hands / Sing a song / Join the dance / Nothing’s fair, nothing’s normal / Here among these foolish mortals / And you are not alone / I don’t know how we’re gonna do it / But love is real / We can prove it”
This concert is FREE to all and hosted by First Presbyterian Church – Hudson, WI for the benefit of St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity.
