Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard remembers the young gay man whose 1998 murder became a defining moment in the fight against hatred and violence. Drawing from poetry, Matthew’s personal writings, reflections from his parents, newspaper reports, and original texts, the work moves from shock and grief toward compassion, understanding, and love.
