Dialogue is such a key aspect of story telling, allowing our characters to come to life and become three-dimensional, as opposed to merely existing within the narrative. And many readers feel that a story truly begins when the dialogue commences, driving the plot forward and, most importantly, allowing our reader to create the necessary bond with our characters to ensure they are emotionally-invested as the plot builds.
We learn so much about people/about ourcharacters through the way they speak, the expressions they use, plus, we can convey emotions to ensure our stories are as rich, compelling and gripping as possible.
Workshop description: held in the iconic and wonderfully-inspirational setting of London’s South Bank, (as of 25th April 2026 a new venue is being confirmed), this workshop is ideal for writers wishing to practice and sharpen their dialogue techniques.
Via comprehensive worksheets, you will practice numerous spoken scenarios for your characters, in the process honing the art of speech tags, incorporating action, and including plot details etc. to seamlessly move your stories forward.
