Make a first impression that matches your expertise — from nailing your introduction to how you hold the room.About this Event
In the room 2nd October. 12 women.
Follow-up Zoom session.
Before you say a single word, people are already deciding about you.
How you walk in. Your breath. Your voice. Whether you're comfortable being seen and heard in a room or more likely to shrink into the corner of it. They're reading all of it, and they've half made up their minds before you open your mouth.
And sometimes you know you haven't brought your best with you. You're on the drive home replaying it — Why did I say that? Why didn't I say this? Why did I waffle on about that? — kicking yourself because you know that's not how you are when you're in your element.
Join trained actor/theatre director and Presence Coach Kaye James for this live, half-day workshop where you'll learn to master your presence, just like actors do, so you can bring all of your expertise and personality with you and it can be felt in person as strongly as it is on paper and with your clients.
This is for you if:
You know your stuff inside out, but the moment the attention turns to you, something slips. Your voice tightens. You rush. You overexplain. The pitch, the stage, the podcast mic: the expertise is all still there, but it isn't landing.
Actors don't leave this to chance. They rehearse it.
In this half-day workshop, you'll learn to walk, talk and breathe your expertise, so that what people experience in the room matches how good you really are.
Introducing the Rehearsal Method
Actors don't spend rehearsal saying the words over and over until they've battered all signs of life from them.
They work with intention, breath, body, voice, energy, timing, attention and connection.
They try something. Notice what happens. Adjust and go again. They look for what's possible, with curiosity.
That's what we're going to do.
We'll work with what happens in an unfamiliar room with unfamiliar faces.
Where does your attention go?
What happens to your breath?
What happens to your body?
What are you trying to make happen?
Who are you actually talking to?
We'll try things. Notice. Adjust.
Through practical exercises, working alongside other people in the room and expert direction from Kaye, you'll discover what changes when the attention turns to you — and what you can adjust so you don't leave the best of you behind when it does.
What You'll Leave With
An introduction you're comfortable saying out loud to anyone, naturally and in your own words.
You'll know what happens to you when the attention turns to you, and what you can do in the moment once you notice it.
You'll have played with your breath, voice, energy, attention and connection.
You'll know more about how you walk into a room, how your presence is felt, and what happens when other people turn their attention towards you.
You'll know how to notice, adjust and go again.
And We're Not Done When You Leave
You'll take what we've done into the wilds of 'in real life': the networking event, the podcast, the pitch, the meeting. You'll use the introduction we've rehearsed, notice what happens and make notes.
And we'll have a follow-up Zoom to discuss how it landed and how to make adjustments in real time, just like actors do.
Because presence isn't something you leave in the rehearsal room. You need to be able to bring it with you.
