About this Event
Spleodar Youth Productions presents "Master of the Road," a celebration of Gerry Munnix, the North Kerry dance master. Penned by Fr. Pat Ahern—who was himself a pupil of 'Gerry '—the play tells the story of how Molyneaux, born at Gunsboro Cross, worked in his father's forge from age 14 before following his passion to become a renowned Máistir Rince across Kerry, Clare, and Limerick.
A Direct Line to the 'Munnix' Style: Ensuring the authentic 'Munnix' style is passed to a new generation, we are honoured to have Jonathan Kelliher, a master of this style, working with us. Jonathan also provides a pre-show demonstration of the Munnix style with fiddler Diarmuid O'Brien and remembers the students who transmitted his style to the new generation.
Under the overall direction of Brian Caball, with music direction by Susan Motherway and co-choreography by Joanne Barry, Jonathan and the team are bringing a new generation of young talent to the stage.
