It is our pleasure to once again welcome "Boutique-y" Dave Worthington, brand ambassador for Atom Brands & Maverick Drinks, to the Diggers for a tasting of some of their whisky brands.
Atom Brands is the parent company of Master of Malt, one of the world's largest and most successful online spirits vendors, which is now in its 40th year of trading. In addition to selling all of your favourite spirits from other producers, Master of Malt has diversified into an extraordinary range of independent bottling lines - primarily in Scotch whisky, but also venturing into many other spirits as well - all led by "Dr Whisky" Sam Simmons, head of whisky at Atom Brands. In addition to traditional small batch and single cask independent bottlings under their own "Master of Malt" name, they bottle a wide range of other labels for spirits in a particular style, such as "Wormtub" for single malt Scotch whiskies from distilleries with a wormtub condenser, "Darkness" for whiskies that have been finished in custom-made octave casks that held any number of kinds of sherry, and their brand new permanent line of single cask Islay whiskies, appropriately called "The Islay", that reflect the essence of what makes an Islay whisky, and bottled at 16, 20, and 30 years old.
Probably their most famous range is "That Boutique-y Whisky Company", known for its unique labels and their famous whisky advent calendars. So successful has this range been, it now has a permanent core range and has diversified into rum, gin, and other spirits too - all with the same wonderful artistic labels (no AI slop here!).
With Dave as our host, we'll be guided through a weird and wonderful pick n mix range of their bottlings, in what is sure to be a most excellent tasting!
