About this Event

Martyn’s Law for Places of Worship
Free Breakfast Briefing

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, more commonly known as Martyn’s Law, will introduce new requirements aimed at improving preparedness and protecting the public from acts of terrorism.

Places of worship are specifically included within the scope of the legislation – but what does that actually mean for those responsible for their management, operation and safety?

Join us for a free, practical breakfast briefing designed specifically for anyone involved in running a place of worship, hosted by Diamond Systems, one of Northern Ireland's leading independent security and life safety specialists.

We’ll explain Martyn’s Law in straightforward terms, explore what it could mean for your premises and, most importantly, look at the practical and proportionate steps you can begin taking now to prepare and protect your congregation.

What we'll cover

During the briefing, we'll look at:

  • What Martyn’s Law is and why it has been introduced
  • How the legislation applies to places of worship
  • Understanding the different requirements under the Act
  • Developing appropriate procedures and documentation
  • Training and preparing staff and volunteers
  • Lockdown, evacuation and invacuation
  • Communicating effectively during an incident

Our focus throughout will be on proportionate, achievable measures.

Preparing for Martyn’s Law does not mean turning places of worship into fortresses. It means understanding your premises, considering what could happen in an emergency and making sure the people responsible know what to do.

Who should attend?

This free event is for anyone involved in the management, operation or safety of a place of worship, including faith leaders, clergy, trustees, committee members, premises and facilities teams, health and safety representatives and relevant volunteers.

You do not need any previous knowledge of Martyn’s Law or security.
