ABOUT THE SHOW
In a career spanning over 50 years, dozens of albums, and too many shows to count, Marty Stuart still charts a course through new territory at every chance possible. The five-time GRAMMY® Award winner, Congress of Country Music founder, Country Music Hall of Famer, and AMA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient has left an indelible mark on successive eras of country music and culture.
Stuart began his career accompanying bluegrass legend Lester Flatt and later performed with Johnny Cash before launching a celebrated solo career. His catalog includes the Gold-certified album Hillbilly Rock, the Platinum-certified This One’s Gonna Hurt You, and GRAMMY® Award-winning songs such as “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’” with Travis Tritt and “Same Old Train.”
His work has also extended into film and television. Stuart composed music for All the Pretty Horses, earning a Golden Globe® Award nomination for Best Original Score, and received GRAMMY® Awards for Best Country Instrumental Performance for “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” and “Hummingbyrd.” He also hosted the long-running television favorite The Marty Stuart Show.
Stuart was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2020 and is a longtime member of the Grand Ole Opry. In his hometown of Philadelphia, Mississippi, he founded Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music to preserve, celebrate, and share the history of country music.
His 2023 album Altitude earned widespread critical praise for its fresh take on traditional country. NPR has called Stuart “the very image of country music,” recognizing his musical mastery, respect for tradition, unmistakable style, and sense of humor.
Joined by his longtime band, The Fabulous Superlatives—Kenny Vaughan, Harry Stinson, and Chris Scruggs—Stuart continues to explore new territory with Space Junk, his first full-length double album of original instrumentals. The project blends sun-kissed surf guitar, breezy California rhythms, soul-stirring steel, and fluid fretwork into a cosmic country journey.
