Lucy Beecher Nelson earned her MFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts and BFA from Denison University. In her final year of graduate school, she was a finalist for the Joan Mitchell Foundation and Dedalus Foundation. She has shown her paintings across the US, including Room 68, NAGA Gallery, Bowery Gallery, Frosch & Co, Cove Street Art Gallery, Rocky Neck Artist Colony, Cotuit Center for the Arts, and GASP Gallery. In 2017, her work was shortlisted for the Young Masters Art Prize in London. She has taught painting and drawing for the past 19 years at private schools in Arizona and Massachusetts. She currently lives and works in Falmouth, MA, with her husband and two daughters.

Located within the Church of the Covenant in Boston’s historic Back Bay neighborhood, Gallery NAGA (formerly Newbury Associated Guild of Artists) was founded in 1977, when a group of artists placed their work on display in what used to be the chapel of the church. One month led to the next, and before long, an impromptu gallery was born.
