Join us at Landmark Booksellers on Sunday, November 22nd at 3:00pm for an afternoon with Poet Laureate Emerita of Tennessee Marlene Tidwell for the release of her new poetry collection, The Fragrance of Life. Marlene will be joined in conversation by Missy Maxwell Worton.A lyrical collection of poetry, vignettes, and photography, Fragrance of Life explores hope, grief, resilience, faith, and the beauty of everyday moments. Featuring her official state poem My Beloved Tennessee, this reflective coffee table book celebrates the sacred ordinary and the grace found in every season.
Marlene Tidwell grew up on a farm in a small town in Tennessee. Her journey of writing began as a child on the front porch as she gazed upon the beauty that surrounded her. Gathering her notebook and pen she headed to the edge of the porch where she dreamed and dared to pen the language of her heart to paper. She has had poems published in several publications. In 2021 her poem, My Beloved Tennessee, was voted by the 112th Tennessee General Assembly as one of the official state poems of Tennessee. In April of 2026, the 114th Tennessee General Assembly designated her as Poet Laureate Emerita of Tennessee for her literary accomplishments. She specializes in Christian, nature, and inspirational, poetry books.
Missy Maxwell Worton is an award-winning author, speaker & destiny coach. She exudes joy in all she does, and she loves being in God’s presence as a worshiper.
