Marlene Kuntz are one of Italy's most influential alternative rock bands, and Il Vile remains the album that defined their sound and their legacy. Released on April 26, 1996, the record tore through the Italian music landscape with jagged, distorted guitars, melodies suspended between shadow and light, and lyrics that fell like stones while rising like visions. Ranked among Rolling Stone Italia's 100 greatest Italian albums of all time, Il Vile transformed unease and fragility into a new language — where pain became beauty, anger became lyricism, and anguish became collective song.
Thirty years later, that urgency hasn't faded. Its words still speak to today's disillusionments, its guitars still cry out against the void, and its atmospheres still mirror the restlessness of the present. To mark the anniversary, Marlene Kuntz bring the album back to life on stage with the tour "Marlene Kuntz suona Il Vile," eleven dates across some of Italy's finest clubs, following the celebratory success of their 30th-anniversary run. Each show is a journey through Il Vile track by track — a collective ritual that reignites the record's original flame for a new generation of listeners, while honoring the fans who never stopped recognizing themselves in its notes.
Alongside the tour, Il Vile returns on vinyl in a deluxe, colored-vinyl limited edition, fully illustrated by Alessandro Baronciani. The release includes a 16-page A4 booklet/comic with one illustrated plate per song, plus three postcards drawn from details of his artwork — a visual companion to an album that continues to burn like a live ember at the heart of Italian rock.
