The Story of Trade, Guilds, and Shopping Culture in Old BratislavaJoin us on a themed guided tour through the historic city centre and discover how a strategic Danube ford, royal privileges, and bustling market life shaped the face of modern Bratislava!
Do you know where in the city buyers could check whether merchants were cheating them when measuring fabrics? Or where the dreaded pillory used to stand and how Pressburg burghers strictly defended their trade monopoly?
Commerce, fairs, and craft guilds were the heart of the city for centuries. On this guided tour, we will travel back to a time when squares were filled with stalls selling kale, bread, and live poultry, tracing the path all the way to the first modern Functionalist "temples of trade" of the 20th century.
