We are delighted to announce that Mark Morriss, lead singer of The Bluetones, will be performing for us, live in The Whitetail Room, at The Hart, Headless Cross, Redditch. Mark has spent the best part of three decades at the front of one of the most loved British guitar bands of the nineties. With The Bluetones, he released six studio albums and racked up fourteen Top 40 singles, including the iconic Slight Return, which went straight to number one. The band were fixtures on the biggest stages of the era, performing on The Word, Top of the Pops and Later... with Jools Holland, and building a loyal following that endures to this day.
Beyond The Bluetones, Mark has carved out a rich solo career with four acclaimed albums to his name. He has also collaborated with Matt Berry and the Maypoles, Mike Wilton and The Helicopter of the Holy Ghost, both on tour and on record, proving his versatility as a performer and songwriter.
As a solo live act, Mark blends songs from his extensive back catalogue with stories from his years on the road. Every show is different. Part acoustic set, part storytelling, part singalong. It is the kind of performance that thrives in a small room with an engaged audience. Louder Than War described his live shows as having 'a serious love of music and song tempered with jocularity, making for a set of easy-going acoustic songs and a camaraderie that brings warmth to the room'. On-Magazine called him 'spellbinding, passionate, humorous and open, the sound of a singer who could take on the world'.
Seeing Mark at The Hart, in a room of just fifty people, is exactly the kind of night that Redditch Revival was built for. Intimate, unpredictable and full of great music from an artist who has lived every word he sings.
