Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the vibrant sounds of Mariachi San José, presented by The Grand Oshkosh in collaboration with The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
This talented ensemble of San José State University students brings a lively performance that celebrates community, culture, and the power of music.
Mariachi San José is an official ensemble and course for cred it in the School of Music at San José State University (SJSU). Conducted by José R. Torres-Ramos, Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology and Mariachi, the ensemble is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students at SJSU, as well as community members from San José. Mariachi San José performs repertoire predominantly from Mexico’s música ranchera genre. The ensemble maintains an active schedule performing for university, civic, and community events.
