Free and open to the public. In Memory of Marguerite Ough (1903-1995)
Marguerite Ough, contralto, was born in Benkelman, Nebraska. She spent 25 years on the faculty at the University of Arizona. It was as a teacher, rather than as a singer, that Marguerite made her greatest impression.
In her honor, the Tucson Musical Arts Club founded the Marguerite Ough Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships for graduate women studying voice at the University of Arizona.
In Memory of Dr. Larry Day (1925-2012)
Dr. Larry Day, professor emeritus University of Arizona, taught voice and opera theater. Many students benefited from his expertise, passion, kindness and patience. His professional singing experiences include leading roles with Minneapolis, Denver and Arizona Opera, soloist with symphonies in Minneapolis, Rochester, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, Denver, Billings, Ft. Collins, Tucson, Phoenix and Winfield Kansas. Directing experiences include major oratorios with orchestras, operas and church choir. He was actively involved in many organizations including National Association of Teachers of Singing and National Opera Association (National president 1975-77).
