Artist o Gaernarfon yw Manon Awst, sy'n creu cerfluniau a pherfformiadau safle-benodol wedi'u plethu â naratifau ecolegol. Mae ei gwaith yn archwilio'r ffyrdd y mae deunyddiau'n glynu wrth leoliadau a chymunedau, ac yn eu trawsnewid: o batrymau mawndiroedd i weadau rhynglanwol, mae deunyddiau'n ffordd o gysylltu â’r byd mwy-na-dynol, gan ein helpu i lywio llwybrau mwy cynaliadwy.
Mae ei dull rhyngddisgyblaethol ac ecogritigol wedi'i lunio gan ei magwraeth ar Ynys Môn, ei hastudiaethau academaidd ym maesydd Pensaernïaeth ac Ymchwil Artistig, a deng mlynedd o ymarfer cydweithredol yn Berlin. Yn ddiweddar, derbyniodd grant ymchwil i artistiaid gan Sefydliad Henry Moore (2025) a Chymrodoriaeth Cymru’r Dyfodol (2023–25) gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru a Chyfoeth Naturiol Cymru. Ar hyn o bryd mae hi'n cynrychioli Cymru yn y 61ain La Biennale di Venezia, mewn cydweithrediad â Dylan Huw, Oriel Davies ac Oriel Myrddin. Mae eu prosiect, Sownd, yn archwilio tiroedd ansefydlog mawndiroedd Cymru ac ecoleg fregus lagŵn Fenis mewn arddangosfa yn yr Istituto Santa Maria della Pietà, a chyfres o ddigwyddiadau ar gorsydd yng Nghymru.
Manon Awst is an artist based in Caernarfon who creates sculptures, performances and sited works woven with ecological narratives. Her work explores the ways in which materials stick to and transform locations and communities: from the patterns of peatlands to the textures of the intertidal zone, materials are a way of connecting to more-than-human bodies, helping us navigate more sustainable pathways.
Her interdisciplinary, ecocritical approach is moulded by her upbringing on Ynys Môn, academic studies in Architecture and Artistic Research, and ten years of collaborative practice in Berlin. She was recently granted a Henry Moore Institute Research Fellowship (2025) and a Future Wales Fellowship (2023 – 25) from the Arts Council of Wales and Natural Resources Wales. She currently represents Wales at the 61st La Biennale di Venezia, in collaboration with Dylan Huw, Oriel Davies and Oriel Myrddin. Their project, Sownd, explores the unstable grounds of Welsh peatlands and the fragile ecologies of the Venetian lagoon through an exhibition at the Istituto Santa Maria della Pietà, and a series of sited events across Wales.
